On the 25th of January, The Soul Lifters Gospel Choir traveled to Greater Mount Zion in Brazoria, Texas, to minister through song at the home church of one of their executive board members. Upon their arrival, they were received a warm welcome from the church volunteers. During the warm up and rehearsal, they were taught vocal enrichment exercises, which they have been able to utilize through their Campus Ministry events held every third Wednesday of every month, as well as other campus events. The Soul Lifters Gospel Choir has been thriving on the SHSU campus for 43 years. It is the oldest colligate gospel choir in the state of Texas. It was founded by seven students living in Smith-Kirkley Hall who had the desire to start an organization to minister through song and praise, to fellow students, Huntsville community members, as well as other surrounding areas.  Back
