Stillwater, Oklahoma – October 27-29, 2017

During the Cowboy Cup VII tournament, both of the SHSU Quidditch teams; Bearkat (A Team) and Deathrow (B Team) participated. This year, the tournament took place in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The SHSU teams were excited about competing with top tier teams from this region, as well as with teams from other regions. The Bearkat team was able to play Mizzou Quidditch, an out of region team from Missouri University, and Deathrow was able to play Arkansas.  The opportunity for both teams to play against teams from other regions was beneficial because it gave players a preview to what nationals will look like going up against teams from all over the country. Other universities competing included: Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, University of Arkansas, to name a few.

“This tournament was very beneficial for our club, because we were able to play teams that are not in our region. It also allowed us to see what the rest of the year will look like, and how we are shaping up as a team. It was very exciting because we did very well at this tournament which is a huge confidence booster. The trip also helped with team bonding because when we were not playing a game we were able to sit and cheer for our other team or watch other games and learn more about the sport and the competition, as well as spending time with each other on the road, and making new memories,” said Katherine Hayworth, Quidditch President.
