What is the Multicultural Programming Committee?
The mission of the MPC is to provide the Sam Houston State University community with social, educational, cultural, and engaging programs. MPC will further the mission of the Office of Multicultural Student Services by providing all students, but especially underrepresented students with engaging, cultural, educational, and social programming.
The Multicultural Programming Committee will be compried of the following Positions:
The Co-Chairs will hold two paid student worker positions in the Office of Multicultural Student Services.
Co-chairs will be responsible for overseeing the Student Multicultural Programming Committee.
Co-Chairs will work alongside the Office of Multicultural Student Services Coordinator to oversee/manage the Student Multicultural Programming Committee Budget.
The Co-Chairs will preside over all Student Multicultural Programming Committee Meetings.
Co-chairs will attend and assist in the execution of all Student Multicultural Programming Committee events and programs.
Social & Entertainment Programs Chair:
The Social and Entertainment Programming Chair will be responsible for the planning and execution of social and entertainment programs that engage both majority and underrepresented students and provide an environment for interaction and learning.
The Social and Entertainment Programming Chair is also responsible for the preparation of all program proposals that outline the following program/event details: program budget, date, time, location, purpose, and menu items (if food will be included).
Educational Programming Chair:
The educational programming chair is responsible for the coordination and execution of educational programming that highlights different cultures and the contributions of those different cultures.
The Educational Programming Chair is responsible for providing program and event proposals that include details such as date, time, location, purpose, budget, and menu (if food will be served).
Heritage Month Programming Chair:
The Heritage Month Programming Chair is responsible for working with committee and advisor to coordinate all heritage month activities for Black History Month, Asian Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBT History Month, Native American History Month and other Heritage Months.
The Heritage Month Programming Chair is responsible for submitting program and event proposals that provide details such as, date, time, location, purpose, food menu, and budget.
