History of DLC:
In 2005, the members of the Sam Houston State University Diversity Council felt that there was a need to have a conference in the State of Texas that targeted college students’ concerns and issues regarding diversity. Thisconference is the first of its kind in the state of Texas and is sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services (MSS) and the student-led Diversity Council.
The mission of the Diversity Leadership Conference is to provide an equal-opportunity environment within the Sam Houston State University campus, the State of Texas and surrounding areas that promotes diversity in all aspects of life. Through the annual Diversity Leadership Conference, the council strives to educate students, professors, and higher education professionals alike in an effort to eliminate stereotypes and discrimination.
