Have you been tested and advised?
The law requires all entering college students (freshman and first time students) to be assessed for college readiness in mathematics, reading, and writing unless the student qualifies for an exemption. Visit Texas Success Initiative for more information.
Veterans please talk with a Veterans Resource Center advisor to discuss course plans prior to registering. The advisors will assist you with your degree plan and ensure your classes are eligible for benefits.
Did you get your Bacterial Meningitis vaccination?
All students entering an institution of higher education are required to either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet certain criteria for declining such a vaccination 10 days before the first day of classes. If you are under the age of 30 and are:
- a returning student, who did NOT attend classes at SHSU the preceding semester
- an entering freshman
- a transfer student
- an entering graduate or post-baccalaureate student
You must submit Evidence of Vaccination against Bacterial Meningitis.
Are you a Peace Officer or a Firefighter? You may qualify for an exemption. Please visit the Exemptions page for more information.
