Welcome Week at SHSU wouldn't be complete without a gooey sweet treat from Outdoor Recreation. Come out and enjoy FREE smores made overa real campfire! Don't know how to make a smore?? Not a problem! We can teach you everything you need to know about this camp classic.
Paddling Clinic September 11, 2013

Location: University Camp
Come out to the newly finished University Camp and try your hand at various types of paddling on our water front property. We will be giving basic instruction on canoe paddling, kayak paddling, stand up paddleboarding, and even allowing plenty of time for exploring.
Top Rope Belay Clinic September 18, 2013

Cost: FREE to semester pass holders; $5 for others
Location: RSC Climbing Center
This clinic will teach you how ot properly belay, so you can bring your buddies down to the Climbing Center anytime! Take your climbing skills to the next level, and learn how to top rope belay with the best of them. This clinic is FREE to semester pass holders, and will be $5 for anyone else.
Disc Golf & Slackline Clinic October 02, 2013

Location: Eastam-Thomason Park
Come join the Outdoor Recreation Program for a relaxing afternoon in the park. Learn the basics of disc/frisbee golf, and try out your balance on some slacklines! Don't have any discs? Not a problem, we'll have plenty of extras to share!
Zombie Community Bike Ride October 30, 2013

What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than a zombie bike ride! Bring your best zombie wear, and come join the Outdoor Recreation Program for a relaxing and haunting community bike ride around the SHSU campus, and the downtown Huntsville area. This is a Bring Your Own Bike event, and helmets are required. So grab your buddies, and let's ride!
Lead Climbing Clinic November 13, 2013
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Cost: $10
Location: RSC Climbing Center
This clinic is for intermediate level climbers that would like to take their skill to the next level of sport climbing. It will include proper sport climbing techniques, as well as equipment care and management. Climbers must have gone through the top rope belay clinic, and must be able to climb a 5.9 route clean. This clinic is $10 for everyone.
Campfire Chillout December 09, 2013

Need a minute or two to catch your breath and relax? What better way to do it than with friends around a cozy campfire. The Outdoor Recreation program is offering a night of stress free fun with s’mores, hot chocolate, apple cider, and a warm fire to keep you toasty. Bring your friends, and come enjoy a homey and delicious study break snack!
