Permits for Fall 2014 will be available for online purchase beginning July 1st by logging into you parking account at https://parking.shsu.edu. In office permit purchases for Fall 2014 will begin Friday, August 1st. Please make sure to have your Sam ID and vehicle information to include year, make, model, color and license plate number ready. Permit Enforcement for the Academic Summer Terms will begin Thursday, May 29th. If you have not done so, please visit our office to purchase a permit. If you do not have a permit and receive a citation for No Permit, please visit our office and the citation will be voided with the purchase of a permit.
The P15 Field House Surface Lot is no longer an All Permit Zone and will be a Faculty/Staff Zone. Please make sure that you verify the parking zone prior to leaving your vehicle unattended to prevent a citation from being issued.
Permit enforcement begins Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Please make sure that you have your permit displayed and are parked in the correct parking zone. Visit our office if you do not have a permit to park on campus.

The university will begin the initial phases of construction of the new Student Health Center coordinated by the Physical Plant Department on October 17, 2013 with continued construction expected for a length of eight months. Parking spaces in the P38 parking lot and along the west side of the roadway in P30 on Avenue J will not be available for parking during this time period.
We are notifying you of the impact of this project so that you can take the necessary steps to make sure that you arrive to and from any activities in a safe and timely manner. Our office requests that you continue to adhere to the current parking rules and regulations to prevent any unnecessary parking or traffic issues that may lead to citations or vehicles being towed or impounded. We encourage our customers to use alternative means of transportation such as walking, biking or carpooling, when available, and do so with a group of persons that you feel comfortable and safe doing so. When parking your vehicle, please remember these key tips and rules before leaving your vehicle unattended:
- Resident permit holders may park in orange and blue zones 24 hours a day.
- Resident permit holders may park in white and green zones between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. with the exception of visitor, handicap, reserved and faculty/staff 24 hour designated parking.
- Walk or bike when you can and so with a group for safety.
- University Police Department provides security escorts as a courtesy to and from a requested destination. Please call 936-294-1794 to request a security escort.
- The Sam Houston Parking Garage is available at an hourly rate of $1.25 not to exceed $6.00 per day when a space in close proximity to the center of campus is needed for a short to daily span of time.

Parking at SHSU-The Woodlands Center
If you will only be parking at The Woodlands Center, you will need to register for a red permit at The Woodlands Center at no cost (please read below for available dates to register and pick up your red permit). If you will be parking at the Huntsville and The Woodlands Center campuses, a parking permit will need to be purchased at the Parking and Transportation Office located in Huntsville. The permit that you purchase (Commuter Student, Resident Student, Faculty/Staff, Remote) will serve as your permit for both the Huntsville and The Woodlands Center Campus. Permits are now on sale for walk-in purchase at the Parking and Transportation Office through the beginning of the Fall Semester. If you would like to purchase your permit online, you have until August 9th at 5:00PM to do so.

No pricing changes in the cost of permits or fines for violations were made for the 2013-2014 year. Major changes include:
The addition of the Veterans Parking Policy.
The addition of Red Permit Zones used exclusively at The Woodlands Center Complex. These permits do not validate parking at the Huntsville Campus. Red Permit parking is identified on the 2013-2014 Parking Map.
The removal of Adams House and Allen House from the list of applicable Residence Halls.

Purchase of 2013 Fall Permits now available online only
Permits are required to park on the Huntsville campus. Please be aware that permit charges will be posted to your University account within 24-72 hours. Select your choice of permit and whether you would like to receive your permit via registered mailing address or by picking the permit up at the Parking and Transportation Office on August 1st. Walk In Registration for Fall Permits will begin Thursday, August 1, 2013.
Faculty/Staff: If you would like to participate in the payroll deduction payment plan, please select to pick up your permit in the office rather than choosing to have the permit be mailed to your registered address. A payroll deduction form must completed and signed at the Parking and Transportation Office to participate in the program.
Parking Changes on Campus at SHSU
Parking Lot Closed Due To Construction
Faculty/staff parking lot P32 between Smith-Kirkley and the Lowman Student Center is closed due to the demolition of Smith-Kirkley Hall. This lot will remain closed and will be used for the eventual expansion of the Lowman Student Center.
Parking Garage Hourly Rate Change
Effective Aug. 16, 2012, hourly rates in the parking garage increased as follows:
0-1 Hour $1.25
1-2 Hours $2.50
2-3 Hours $3.75
3-4 Hours $5.00
4-24 Hours $6.00
Hourly parking entry involves pulling an entry ticket, to be paid at exit by credit card (no cash accepted). Lost ticket fee is $10.
Parking Garage Contract Spaces
Parking Garage contract spaces are now reserved from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. only. This change was made to better accommodate evening special event guests at the Gaertner Performing Arts Center, Lowman Student Center, and other venues.
