Time Reporting for Energy Conservation Day - March 16:

The University is officially closed for the upcoming Energy Conservation Day on Friday, March 16, 2018. As such, only essential personnel may report for duty. Nonessential personnel reporting for duty on Energy Conservation Day must receive prior approval from their divisional Vice President and the Vice President for Finance and Operations.

Employees will account for the Energy Conservation Day with the use of Emergency Leave. You are not required to use available leave or compensatory time.  Supervisors with unique situations or questions are encouraged to call the Human Resources Department for additional guidance. Please see Finance & Operations HR Policy B-4, Holidays and Energy Conservation Day.

Time Reporting for Good Friday - March 30:

SHSU administrative offices will close at noon on Friday, March 30th. All employees that work outside the normal 8 to 5 daily schedule will need to check with their managers regarding their schedule.

Please use Emergency Leave to record time used for non-exempt employees. Exempt employees are not required to report emergency time for this day.

2018 Federal Withholding Tax Rates - Implementation Effective Feb 15:

Sam Houston State University will implement the updates to the federal income tax withholding tables starting with the Feb. 15 paycheck. Per Internal Revenue Service instructions, no adjustment is required for payroll amounts paid in January and Feb.1 using the 2017 tax rates.

In addition, the IRS has stated that employees are not required to complete a new Form W-4 this year. Employees, however, wishing to update or view their current Form W-4 can do so online through the Tax Forms link on their Banner Employee Profile.

Employee Electronic Tax Form Consent...

Please reference our Online Tax Form Instructions to make your selection for online delivery of your W-2 and 1095-C. 

If you have previously selected online delivery for your W-2 or 1095-C, you do NOT need to make the selection again. Any printed W-2's will be mailed on January 31, 2018 to the employee's W-2 address on record.
