Rob Webber

Director of the Lowman Student Center

ROB WEBBER is the Director of the Lowman Student Center. He brings over 10 years of professional student affairs experience to the Lowman Student Center staff. Rob is originally from Maryland and holds a M.A. from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in Historical Studies and a B.S. from Indiana State University in Student Affairs & Higher Education. Rob is passionate about student development, environmental theory, and helping students achieve their maximum potential. He is excited to be at Sam Houston State University and is looking forward to serving the students, faculty, and staff as the LSC improves and expands its services. We will strive to provide quality customer service and exceed our guest’s expectations as we engage our campus community.

James Van Roekel

Director of Student Affairs Technology
Associate Director of the Lowman Student Center

JAMES VAN ROEKEL; MLS, MA is the Director of Student Affairs Technology/Associate Director of the Lowman Student Center and has over 20 years of professional Higher Education experience as a faculty member and administrator in Academic and Student Affairs. His research, which can be found in over 30 publications including three books, and teaching focus on the investigation of the utilization of free and off-the-shelf hardware and software towards the development of multimedia and digital applications in student learning and web-based broadcasting. His grant writing has brought over $725,000.00 to engage faculty and students in current and emerging technologies. He is a member of EDUCAUSE, Infocomm International, and ACUI where he serves as ACUI Technology Community of Practice Coordinator, ACUI Ongoing Bulletin (association's international journal) Contributor, on ACUI Community of Scholars, and on ACUI Writers Support Group.

Specialties: Grant writing, media design, web design, faculty development, student development, leadership, and teaching.

Krystin Catlin

Krystin Catlin

Assistant Director of the Lowman Student Center

Krystin Catlin is the Assistant Director of the Lowman Student Center. She is a SHSU alumni, graduating with her B.S. from the Department of Agricultural and Industrial Sciences in 2012, and completed her M.S. from Purdue University in 2014. Krystin’s research and studies included teaching and mentoring practices, along with student success initiatives. She is excited to begin her career at SHSU, and is looking forward to working with students, faculty, and staff as the LSC continues to be a great environment for all the activities on campus!

Brad Herget

Assistant Director of Event Services and Technology

BRAD HERGET is the Assistant Director of Event Services and Technology for the Lowman Student Center, contributing over 4 years of event production and technology experience to the LSC team. Brad graduated from Frostburg State University in Western Maryland with a B.S. in Earth Science in the fall of 2015. He looks forward to creating a technical and event services program at the LSC to enhance the programs and services offered to the students at Sam Houston State University, and to create an experiential learning opportunity for the student employees of the LSC.

Tabitha Tipton

Assistant Director of the Lowman Student Center

TABITHA TIPTON is an Assistant Director of the Lowman Student Center, specifically overseeing the Kat Klub and Information Desk. She is an SHSU alumna, graduating with her B.S. from the Department of Kinesiology in 2012 and completing her M.A. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management in 2014. Tabitha brings over 5 years of student development and facility operations experience to the LSC team.

John Felschow

JOHN FELSCHOW is the Events Management Coordinator for the Lowman Student Center, contributing over two years of event management experience to the Lowman Student Center. John Graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Meteorology and Communications in the Summer of 2015. He looks forward to finishing his Master’s Degree in Higher Education Leadership in the Summer of 2017. He believes that in order to become a great leader we must first be a great follower, lead by example, and stay committed to lifelong learning. John hopes that his passion for events will create an excellent customer service experience through collaboration with the Lowman Student Center Team, and the surrounding Community.

LUZI ESPINOZA was born in Mexico and came to the United States when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Sam in 2010 with a degree in Criminal Justice and in 2014 with a degree in Sociology. Luzi comes from a big family so spending time with them whenever possible is very important.

Evening Event Services Coordinator

ERIC MARTIN is the Evening Event Services Coordinator for the Lowman Student Center. Eric received his B.S. from Frostburg State University in Business Administration/Human Resources Management in Spring of 2017. He brings over four years of technical and event management experience; with this and his passion for student affairs, he hopes to help the LSC continue to be the “Living Room on Campus.

Reyna Ayala

Reyna Ayala

REYNA AYALA is a custodian at the Lowman Student Center. She is originally from Central America. She has two beautiful children, a daughter and a son. Reyna has been working for Sam Houston since 1996. In 2008, she was awarded the Staff Excellence Award for dedicated service. Reyna is "very proud to be part of the SHSU staff."

ANTONIO COSS was born in Michoacan, Mexico and grew up in Mexico City until the age of 21. He then came to the United States to begin working for a lumber company. A few years later he came to Sam Houston to become a custodian for the LSC. Tony is "very proud to be part of this great team here at the LSC."

BLANCA ALVAREZ is originally from Central America and she has 3 children and 5 grandchildren whom she is very close with. She has been a custodian with Sam Houston State for 9 years, 5 of which in the Lowman Student Center. Blanca very much enjoys the new faces that come and go in the LSC and is happy to be part of the traditions and culture that Sam Houston has to offer.

LECENIA SIBRIAN is a proud custodian at the Lowman Student Center. She is originally from El Salvador and moved to Los Angeles in 1986. She had two sons and moved to Texas shortly after. Lecenia has been in the custodial industry for many years, previously working as a Custodial Supervisor for the Hilton Garden. She joined the LSC in 2008 and very much enjoys working at SAM.

FRANCISCA HERNANDEZ is originally from El Salvador and came to America in 1983. She has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She has been a custodian with the Lowman Student Center since 2009 and very much enjoys working at such a great institution.

MARIA VILLATORO is part of the custodial staff at the Lowman Student Center. She is originally from El Salvador and is a happy mother of 5 children. Maria has worked for the LSC since 2009 and loves being part of Sam Houston.
