Connecting Gaming Consoles
Xbox One
- Press the "Menu" button on the Controller.
- Scroll down and select "Settings".
- On the new screen, select "Network".
- Select "Advanced Settings" on the lower left side of the screen.
- Find your "Wired MAC Address" listed on the bottom right side of the screen.
Xbox 360
Using the NXE Dashboard
- Scroll Down (if necessary) to "My Xbox".
- Go all the way to the right and select "System Settings".
- On the new screen, select "Network Settings".
- Select "Configure Network".
- Under "Basic Settings" check to make sure "IP Settings" is on "Automatic".
- Go right to select the "Additional Settings" Tab.
- Go down and select the second item "Advanced Settings".
- The MAC address can be found towards the bottom of the screen under the heading "Wired MAC Address".
Using the Original Dashboard
- Access the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select "Network Settings".
- Select "Edit Settings".
- From Additional Settings, select "Advanced Settings".
- The MAC address can be found towards the bottom of the screen under the heading "Wired MAC Address".
Playstation 4
- Access the Settings menu and select "Network".
- Select "View Network Connection Status".
- The MAC Address is listed for both the wired connection and wireless connection.
- You will want to register the MAC Address for the wired connection.
Playstation 4 - Wireless
- Go to the "Settings" menu.
- Scroll down to "Network".
- Select "Set Up Internet Connection".
- Select "Use Wi-Fi".
- Select "Easy".
- Select "samnet-guest".
- Select "Test Internet Connection".
- When connection fails select the "Details" box on the right side of the screen.
- Press the 'Triangle' button on the PS4 remote for "Search playstation.com Support".
- The login page for Samnet-Guest will now show up for you to sign-in to samnet-guest with your SHSU account.
- Select "I agree to the above terms".
- Enter your SHSU Username.
- Enter your SHSU Password.
- Select "Sign In" button.
Playstation 3
- Access the Settings menu and select "System Settings".
- The MAC address is found under "System Information".
Nintendo Wii
- Note: The Wii does not ship with the ability to connect to a wired network. Students who wish to use the Wii online in the dorms will need to purchase a Wii LAN Adapter and use an ethernet cable.
- From the Wii Channel menu, select Wii (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with 'Wii" on it) then select the Wii "Settings" icon.
- Click the right arrow to go to the second page. Select Internet, then go to "Console Settings".
- The MAC Address of the Wii console's LAN Adapter is displayed on the second line.
