Study Abroad in the United Arab Emirates

Business in the Middle East: Dubai

Program Overview

This course is designed to give you a first-hand experience of the economic, cultural and marketing environment of the United Arab Emirates, a part of the Gulf Cooperative Council.

Students will receive exposure to this important region of the global economy through lectures, site visits to both traditional and modern business sites, and visits showcasing the complex culture of the Middle-East. Based in Dubai, the course will also cover the neighboring Emirates.

“It wasn’t until I actually put my feet on the ground and experienced it first hand, that I truly understood what I was learning. The cultural differences, the foods, the smells, the whole atmosphere of the place really drove me to embrace my surroundings and learn as much as possible. I am extremely lucky to have been able to experience this. Overall, I think I learned a lot about the people, the way they do business, and how to conduct myself while overseas. If I could do this all over again, I would.”

“Overall, I am happy that I had the opportunity to visit Dubai with such amazing people that I can now call friends as well as having the privilege to learn so much more than I could have ever learned in a classroom. With the media portraying their culture and region negatively you don't know the truth until you experience it yourself and I was fortunate enough to experience firsthand on what the truth is and how amazing one concept such as marketing is used on the other side of the world.”
