Nursing Clinical Practicum in Costa Rica
Students will spend six hours per day, five days a week in a clinical setting with children. Hours will be split between an acute carer children’s hospital, out patient clinics, and a Nicaraguan refugee camp (La Carpio). In addition to the nursing clinicals, trips will be arranged on one weekend day where students will see the rainforest flora and fauna and volcanos, experience river trips and shopping, and visit beaches for swimming and surfing. Students will live in private family homes where they can gain a true sense of the culture, family life, and food from Costa Rica. The students will have completed the didactic portion of this course during the spring semester and will earn an incomplete at the end of spring semester.
"This was an awesome program and it definitely taught me alot about myself and other cultures. It gave me a new perspective on how I view my own culture and things happening here in the U.S. I am very glad I decided to participate." ~student feedback from Summer 2014
