Study Abroad in Korea

eSports and Education in Korea

Program Overview

This three credit hour seminar set in Seoul, Korea will focus on the relationship between eSports, education, and the economy. Focusing units on the informal learning aspects of gaming, sports psychology, and the economic impact of eSports, students will have the opportunity to examine various aspects and facets of eSports. Using short writing assignments and hands on experiences, we will travel throughout Seoul examining how the eSports industry works and how it is inextricably intertwined with various aspects of the market, from PC Bangs, to school-based and professional eSports teams. We will stay in student dorms at Kookmin University and travel by public transportation, attending various eSports tournaments, networking with players and managers for professional and farm teams, and working closely with university eSports players.
