The Global Ambassadors Program
About the Program
The Office of International Programs is sponsoring the Global Ambassadors Program (GAP) where domestic students are paired with international students to share cultural perspectives and ease international students’ transition into their lives here at Sam Houston State University. The Global Ambassadors Program will host several social events over the year to give students additional opportunities to interact and develop lasting friendships. Dates, times and locations are subject to change.
Tailgating at football games is a great American tradition, and a way to get more people involved in learning about International Culture through craft activities like face painting, non-permanent henna tattoos, and flag stickers from all the countries of the world. This is a fun and exciting way to get involved in showing your Bearkat Spirit!
Location: Bearkat Alley, Outside Bowers Stadium
This event is an opportunity for the Global Ambassadors to showcase a few Halloween traditions to the international students through spooky stories, themed refreshments, as well as a spooky atmosphere.
Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner:
One thing that the majority of cultures share is the love of good food! Students will share what they have been thankful for over the past year while enjoying a home-cooked Thanksgiving feast.
A Christmas celebration with an emphasis on Christmas in American culture, led by the Global Ambassadors. The event will feature karaoke Christmas carols, cookie decorating, secret Santa, and sharing personal family holiday traditions.
