Activate your Computer Account

This must be done before you can enroll in classes.

As an SHSU student, you will have an SHSU e-mail account, access to use campus computers, and access to your online courses. In order to enjoy these service, you must activate your account through SamWeb's Activate Account.

Activate your Bearkat OneCard

The Bearkat OneCard is the official ID of Sam Houston State University. All SHSU students, faculty, and staff are required to have a Bearkat OneCard. For more information on how to obtain and activate your card, please contact the Bearkat OneCard Office at 936-294-CARD (2273).

Register for Classes

Before enrolling in any class, you should first speak with your graduate advisor.

Bacterial Meningitis 
Vaccination Requirements

Beginning January 1, SHSU students will be required to provide proof of meningitis vaccination before the first day of class.

Make a Payment

You may pay your tuition and fees online, by mail, or in person.

  • For online payments, log into My Sam. The My Account tab includes account information, instructions on How to Pay Your Bill Online, and easy access to view your Financial Aid status.
  • To pay in person, visit the Bursar’s Office, located in the Estill Building, Room 103.
  • See the Instructions for mailing payments.

Purchase Textbooks

Simplify your textbook purchase, and order your textbooks online through the University Bookstore! Textbooks may also be available through a variety of vendors, including but not limited to area bookstores, online book vendors, or through person to person used book sales.

Prior to the start of each semester local bookstores are provided with a list of books and materials to be utilized by professors in the current and upcoming semester. Students may use these lists to purchase required books prior to the first class meeting. Most area bookstores offer a selection of new and used books.

Obtain your Parking Permit

Individuals operating a motor vehicle on University property are required to register the vehicle with the University Police Department and obtain a parking decal/hang tag. Parking permits can be purchased during the registration process (see above) or by visiting the SHSU Parking Management Office, located at 2424 Sam Houston Avenue in the Sam South Complex.
