P-16

Mission of P-16 Council

The Sam Houston State University (SHSU) P-16 council is a group of educators, community members, and legislators in our geographical area that want to ensure our shared students are ready for success in their post-high school endeavors whether that be college or a career.

Our council consists of SHSU faculty and staff, public education administrators and teachers, community college administration and faculty members, community members, and state legislators. The goal of the SHSU P-16 council is to work cooperatively with the public schools and community colleges to ensure implementation of the college and career readiness standards and to create a college going culture for all Texas students. The SHSU P-16 council will focus much of their work on the state-wide P-16 initiatives.
