Taking Summer Courses at SHSUTaking summer courses will give you something to do over the break and help you to graduate on the timeline you’ve set for yourself.  Start planning now for the courses you’ll be taking and the institution where you’ll be taking them.

  1. Get advised to see which courses are best for you to take over the summer.
  2. Decide where you want to take summer courses.  If it isn’t SHSU, make sure that you submit the application materials that institution requires.
  3. If you think you'll need financial aid for the summer, talk to the Financial Aid Office about financing your summer courses.
  4. If you’re going to take courses at another institution besides SHSU, check out the Transfer Equivalency Guide (SHSU.edu-->Fast Links-->Transfer Equivalency Guide).  This will tell you which classes will transfer to SHSU and what they may be called at a different institution.
  5. Once you’ve completed your summer courses, send your official transcript to the SHSU Admissions Office so that you’ll get credit for them.
