DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES
 

  1. RACHEL MARY PRATHER ALLEN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $500 per year; Recipients must be a full-time junior, senior or graduate student majoring in one of the programs in Family and Consumer Sciences and demonstrate financial need. GPA requirement 3.0 overall and in their major.
  2. FAMILY and CONSUMER SCIENCES MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND: Amount varies per year, 3.0 GPA, junior standing.
  3. FRAY STALLINGS WELLS: Amount varies per year, junior standing, 2.85 in major and overall.
  4. LYNCH ENDOWMENT FUND: Amount varies per year, junior standing, 3.0 in major and overall.
  5. J.E. "BO" CREWS AWARD: Amount varies, alternate years with Department of Marketing, recipient chosen by donor from Fashion Merchandising Majors only.
  6. ELMADEL DRISCOLL ROBINSON HOME ECONOMICS ENDOWMENT: Amount varies per year, junior standing, 3.0 in major and overall.
  7. MATTIE BEA PRATHER MEDFORD FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies per year, junior standing, 3.0 in major and overall.
  8. WILEY G. AND MARIAN BOYD McDONALD: Amount varies per year, 3.0 GPA, junior standing.
  9. DRS. ROBERT (BOB) AND MARY BARNES HARRIS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student, who has completed a minimum of 48 hours at6 the time the scholarship application is submitted, be majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Teaching Certification, and demonstrate financial need.  GPA requirement: 3.0 in major, 2.80 overall. 
  10. ASHLEY K. GREENE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  The recipient must be a full-time or part-time (minimum of 9 hours per semester) undergraduate in good standing, majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences-Fashion merchandising.  GPA of 3.00 is required. 
  11. KEENER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP IN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student of junior classification in good standing and majoring in any discipline within the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.  GPA of 3.30 is required.
  12. MARGIE CRAWFORD HARDY FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP:  $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing; majoring in family and consumer sciences with teacher certification or be a current family and consumer science teacher pursuing a master's degree in family and consumer sciences; have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 60 undergraduate hours in the semester the scholarship is to be disbursed.  GPA of 3.00 is required.

DEPARTMENT OF POPULATION HEALTH
 

  1. ROY G. MOSS, JR., HEALTH EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP: Applicant must be a Health Education major, have an exemplary GPA, display leadership potential and be involved in community health issues.
  2. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & KINESIOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP: Majoring in health or kinesiology, demonstrating financial need with a satisfactory GPA.
  3. ROBERT L. CASE HEALTH & KINESIOLOGY WELLNESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount of scholarship varies per year.  Recipient must be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Health or Kinesiology, display leadership potential, and reflect a high level of physical wellness.  GPA requirement is a 3.0.
  4. CADY/HUSKY HEALTH EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP:  Full-time Junior or Senior Health major displaying leadership potential with at least a 3.0 GPA
  5. DR. RUTH M. CADY AND DR. DOROTHY A. HUSKEY HEALTH SCIENCE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  Three scholarships at a minimum of $2,000 each.  One to a student majoring in Nursing; One to a student majoring in Public Health-Community Health; and one majoring in either Health Care Administration or Health Sciences to a student in any of the pre-Health majors.  Must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing.  Financial need a consideration, but not a determining factor.  Overall GPA of 3.20 is required. 
  6. GLORIA A. WISMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Recipient must be a graduate of Ross A. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, have successfully participated in the Goose Creek ISD Health Science Academy, have shown to be most active in extracurricular activities in the community, high school, or SHSU sponsored activities and organizations; be a full-time student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, declare a major in public health, with a pre-nursing track, have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and display financial need.  Preference will be given to students that have previously earned health care certifications.

DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY

  1. BETTY ALEXANDER AWARD: Majoring in Kinesiology, completed two years or more with a 3.0 GPA.
  2. H. O. "MOLLY" CRAWFORD SCHOLARSHIP: Male, junior standing (minimum of 64 credit hours) in kinesiology seeking teacher certification with a 2.5 GPA.
  3. JOE & MARY KIRK SCHOLARSHIP: Male senior standing in kinesiology seeking teacher certification with a 2.8 GPA.
  4. MARGARET POWELL AWARD: Female, senior standing in kinesiology with a 3.2 GPA.
  5. ROBERT J. WAGNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Graduate student in Health or Kinesiology reflecting a lifestyle of physical fitness and demonstrating financial need.
  6. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & KINESIOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP: Majoring in health or kinesiology, demonstrating financial need with a satisfactory GPA.
  7. ROBERT L. CASE HEALTH & KINESIOLOGY WELLNESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount of scholarship varies per year.  Recipient must be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Health or Kinesiology, display leadership potential, and reflect a high level of physical wellness.  GPA requirement is a 3.0.

SCHOOL OF NURSING

  1. ALVIN AND ANGELINE JASIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: $1,500 per year. Recipients must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing, majoring in Pre-Nursing until Sam Houston State establishes a Nursing Program, at which time the major will be Nursing. GPA of 3.00 is required.
  2. RYLIE ELISE RINGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student (at the time they receive the funding) in good standing, majoring in nursing; be admitted into the Nursing Program; demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 2.50/3.00 is required. 
  3. MARY ELLEN RAGSDALE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT: $5,000 per year.  Recipient must be a junior or senior student in good standing; majoring in nursing and have been accepted to the nursing program; be a graduate of Humble High School.  If there are no qualified applicants from Humble High School, preference will be given to graduates from any high school in the Humble Independent School District.  If there are no qualified applicants from the Humble Independent School District, then the scholarship award will be open to any qualified student.  Financial need will be a consideration but not a determining factor.  GPA of 3.00 is required.
  4. ST. LUKE'S THE WOODLANDS HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing; must have been accepted into the Bachelor of Nursing Program.  Preference will be given to current employees of St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital, St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital employee's spouse, legal dependent, child or grandchild.  GPA of 3.20 is required. 
  5. STEWART-JONES NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 minimum, to a full-time junior or senior student in good standing; majoring in Nursing. Must have and maintain an overall GPA of 3.00. 
  6. DR. RUTH M. CADY AND DR. DOROTHY A. HUSKEY HEALTH SCIENCE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  Three scholarships at a minimum of $2,000 each.  One to a student majoring in Nursing; One to a student majoring in Public Health-Community Health; and one majoring in either Health Care Administration or Health Sciences to a student in any of the pre-Health majors.  Must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing.  Financial need a consideration, but not a determining factor.  Overall GPA of 3.20 is required.
  7. ED AND CELIA FRANKLIN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR NURSING: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; demonstrate financial need and have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00. 
  8. Vaughn Construction Nursing Scholarship: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student in good standing and majoring in nursing; demonstrate financial need and be a Texas high school graduate.
  9. ROLAND E. BLACK NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: $1,500 per semester.  Recipient must be a full-time junior entering the nursing program, in good standing and majoring in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and have and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.75.  The scholarship is a one-semester award.  A recipient will receive this scholarship at $1,500 per semester for 5 semesters as long as they continue to meet the selection criteria.
