Sam Houston State University (SHSU) offers services for shredding and recycling of materials through the Department of Shredding and Recycling (DSR). See the "Shredding and/or Recycling Pick Up Request Form" for details.
DSR also collects plastic, paper, and aluminum cans from recycling bins located strategically across campus.
The "Recycling Program" accepts mixed, white, and computer paper; newspaper; magazines; aluminum cans; plastic bottles; cardboard; as well as toner cartridges. Departments are requested to ensure each of the recyclable products mentioned above be separated in separate containers or bags. Empty paper boxes are available from the Shredding and Recycling Department upon request.
On Wednesdays faculty, staff and students are welcome to drop off paper, newspaper, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans at the designated location (the CHSS Building cul-de-sac) between 8:30 and 3:30.
DSR offers shredding of confidential documents. Departments are asked to enclose these documents in standard size 8 ½" by 11" paper boxes, with tops securely taped closed and clearly marked for shredding. Departments are welcome to make an appointment with DSR for a faculty or staff member to view the actual shredding of their confidential information.
