Teacher

5th Grade, Brighton location

This is my second year to teach fifth grade, but I’ve taught first, third, fourth, sixth, and seventh grades. I guess it was just a matter of time before I added fifth grade to my resume! As the oldest of five children, I loved school and often “played school” with my younger siblings. My parents thought I was destined to be a teacher. Instead, I earned a degree in Business Administration/ Finance from the University of Dayton, Ohio.

I moved up the organization to Director of Area Operations, married, and had three children. Then one day, my company announced the sale of the Houston/ Austin market. I had a choice: move to Denver, Colorado. I decided to take the opportunity to stay home with the children. Accustomed to being busy, I was soon volunteering in their schools. And like the mouse in the book, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”, my path was going to circle back to education. I wanted my own classroom. I wanted to share my passion for learning with the children. This is my second year at SHSU charter school, and I’m a "happy mouse!” Thank you for allowing me to go on a learning adventure with your child this year!
