A female student reported that on February 18, 2017, at approximately 10:00 PM, she was a victim of a robbery.  The incident occurred in front of Estill Hall in the 1000 block of Bearkat Boulevard (16th Street).  The victim reported that she had just left work and was returning to her residence on campus.  Upon exiting her vehicle, she was approached by two black males who demanded all of her cash.  Fearing for her immediate safety, the victim handed over U.S. Currency to the suspect who then fled in an older model blue pickup truck. The victim described the suspects as follows:

  • Suspect 1 - a black male, no facial hair, darker skin, bushy eye brows, appeared average build, wore a blue hoodie and jeans; and
  • Suspect 2 - a black male, lanky, baggy clothes, wore an army green or green hoodie, and jeans.

When returning to campus or already on campus, we advise you to be aware of your surroundings.  When leaving from work, be aware of of your surrounding and for any vehicles that may be following you.  Trends for some crimes have indicated that individuals identify their victims after leaving from banks or places of employment.  If you should observe anything that appears or feels out of place, please contact the University Police Department or 911. If you are on campus and do not want to walk from one campus location to another by yourself, please contact the University Police Department and set up an escort.  The phone number is 936-294-1800.  Staff will meet with you at your location and escort you to your destination.
