Written in 1972, PIPPIN is the timeless tale of a young person’s quest for purpose. With infectiously unforgettable music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of Wicked, and book by Roger O. Hirson, with a tip of the hat to the iconic choreography of Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production, PIPPIN is the story of one man's journey to be extraordinary.

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of meaning and significance. Manipulated on his journey by the charismatic Leading Player and his mysterious troupe of ghostly figures, Pippin is lured and led into the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power as he goes along his way. In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness and fulfillment lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the average moments that happen every day.
