Since the fall semester of 2013, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology here at Sam Houston State University. I currently teach online sections of Introduction to Ethnic Studies and work with the Center for Rural Studies engaging in research and outreach. I earned my PhD in December of 2013 from Kansas State University. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Northern Arizona University. My specialty areas are environmental sociology, the sociology of agriculture and food, and political sociology. My interests and research focus on socio-environmental issues, the agriculture and food system, community, and social movements in general and the intersections of these issues more specifically. I am comfortable focusing on rural issues, urban matters, or rural-urban interface concerns.
