Marcia No. 3, Op. 120, PP.141.10
Marcia No. 3, in spite of its Piacenza-like scoring is dated from the score as being completed "in the evening" of April 18, 1865. Its character is appropriate for a "Cut-time" march. By this time Ponchielli had learned the art of the repeat and dal Segno/Capo. Thus, a very simple march is extended and varied in many unexpected ways, reaching its heights in Piazza Stradivari.
