In Memoriam

In Memory of School of Music Supporter, Tim Tull

Tim Tull

On behalf of Sam Houston State University and the School of Music, we are devastated by the sudden death of Tim Tull. His family, including his wife Joan, mother Charlotte, and sister Jennifer have suffered a tremendous loss. Tim’s Houston Grand Opera family, where he was highly respected as a music professional and served as the opera’s librarian for many years, have also experienced an immense loss.

Tim and his family have played a prominent role as longtime supporters of the School of Music. In 1994 the Tull family established The Fisher Tull Endowed Music Scholarship Fund, named in honor of Tim’s late father Dr. Fisher Tull who joined the faculty of SHSU music in 1957 and served as chair of the Department of Music from 1965 to 1982.  Through the years Tim and his mother, Charlotte, have devoted valuable time serving as the audition and interview committee for the scholarship, providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen in the string, wind or percussion sections of the School of Music.  Charlotte and Tim have been a part of almost every audition since the scholarship’s creation over 20 years ago, including earlier this month.

We are forever grateful for the professional and personal connections many members of our university established with Tim through the years. Tim Tull will always be remembered as a loyal, generous and devoted colleague and friend to many in our SHSU School of Music family.

Director of SHSU School of Music
