ABC on stage

The American Band College program of Sam Houston State University originated in 1989 as a summer workshop program. In 1994 a group of six band directors became the first graduating class of its masters program. In 2010, ABC realigned with SHSU and graduated 66 directors from 40 states and 4 foreign countries.

With over 200 active candidates now in the program, the NASM-sanctioned Master of Music degree is offered through the School of Music at SHSU. This long-distance program, in collaboration with the American Band College of Ashland, Oregon, offers on-site classes between June 19 and July 5 with a 6-week follow-up period allowing candidates to utilize SHSU's eCollege system for online course work.
