About the Bookfest

The Jan Paris Bookfest is a day-long festival filled with development courses and author presentations for educators and librarians.

Began in 1983 and renamed in 2010 in honor of Dr. Jan Paris, a retired SHSU professor of library science, the bookfest features keynote speakers that are published young adult and children’s authors and offers numerous workshops. Workshop topics vary year to year but can include how to meld technology resources with library resources and what’s new in young adult publications.

The conference is geared towards educators but is open to members of the public interested in advancements in technology and children’s literature. Participants can receive professional education credit hours.
