Reception for Outstanding Students

The Honors College recognizes students who have achieved academic success in their undergraduate studies. The Honors Student Ambassadors, the Honors Council, and Honors faculty will be on hand to provide valuable information about Honors Courses and Seminars, Academic Scholarships, Undergraduate Research, and additional resources for high-achieving students.
Academically talented freshmen and sophomores in all majors with a 3.4 cumulative GPA, or better, are invited to attend and enjoy refreshments while meeting other outstanding undergrads. Spivey Haunted House

Celebrate Halloween with fellow Honors student. HSAC transforms the Honors dorm, Spivey House, into an enchanted haunted house. Costumes and candy are welcome.

Tickets are $5 for Honors students and $10 for non-Honors students. Tickets can be purchased online only. Cash and checks will not be accepted.

For the fall 2014 Cultural Outing, we will enjoy dinner at The Homestead in Huntsville, TX followed by the production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" at the Erica Starr Theatre on the SHSU campus. Carpools will leave the Spivey House parking lot at 4:30 pm. Please notify the Honors College office if you will need a carpool.
Honors College Open House

The Elliott T. Bowers Honors College Open House is a campus event that provides prospective students and their parents the opportunity to learn more about Honors education at Sam Houston State University. Presentations and informal conversations with Honors faculty, academic advisors, and Honors College Student Ambassadors will include information on the following topics:

Bowers Medallion Ceremony

Honors College graduates are recognized in this intimate ceremony. Each graduate receives an Honors Medallion and Stole to wear at commencement.
