The SHSU Food Service Management Bachelor's Degree Program aims to build industry-specific abilities including food and beverage purchase, preparation, and service, as well as food safety and sanitation, while also preparing students to acquire strong business and management skills. Students must perform a 200-hour supervised internship in a restaurant, school cafeteria, or healthcare facility as part of the curriculum. Recently, interns have worked in hotels, resorts, Texas hospitals, and a range of eateries, from IHOP to Saltgrass Steakhouse. During their studies, program participants will have the option of pursuing either a Bachelor of Science degree (with additional math and science prerequisites) or a Bachelor of Arts degree (with a foreign language component). Our program's flexible degree plan enables you to customize your education with upper-level elective courses that target your professional career path.
