Vianey Gutierrez, M.A.

Vianey was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, where she obtained her Bachelor Degree in Business and Marketing by The Technical Institute of Chihuahua. Her passion for teaching started 15 years ago, after being part of a financial institution in which she was in charge for the professional training of the employees. After moving to the USA, Vianey started to pursue her Master Degree in Spanish in Sam Houston State University and has been part of the Department of Foreign Languages since 2012, first as a Teacher Assistant and since 2013 as a Pool Faculty.

Teaching Elementary and Intermediate Spanish levels, gives her the opportunity to share her love for her culture and language with her students, also, help her to understand better the process of second language acquisition and apply strategies to make her students thrive in their professional path. She is currently pursuing a Master in Science of Translation from New York University and graduation is expected in Spring 2018. Her language pair is English><Spanish. Vianey is highly motivated to keep learning in order to be a better professor. She feels very proud to be part of SHSU community. She has two sons and a daughter and loves spend time with them and her husband.
