At NCATE accredited institutions, the unit must provide evidence of competent teacher candidate performance in the educator preparation programs at the initial and advanced levels. Teacher candidates must know the subject matter they plan to teach and how to teach effectively so that all students learn. Administrators must know both the subject matter and how to lead at the building or the district level.
