The SHSU COE Bring'em Back Kats Committee is officially calling for conference session proposals for the August 3, 2017 event at the TWC. The purpose of this conference is to provide our Bearkat educator family (alumni) with an opportunity to continue to grow professionally, specifically in following identified high need areas: Assessment, Technology, English Language Learners, Limited English Proficiency, Special Education and Classroom Management. However, if you have a session that novice teachers will benefit from please don’t hesitate to submit. Each session is one hour. Creative formats (workshop, interactive sessions, hands-on) are encouraged.

If you are interested in sharing your expertise in the areas above, please submit a proposal to Dr. Julie Herron at jkh037@shsu.edu by 5:00 May 1, 2017. The proposals will be peer-reviewed by committee members.

Please include the following in your session proposal:
  • Title:
  • Description of the Session: (25-50 words max)
  • Identify the high need area: ASSESSMENT; TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION; ELLS; LEP, or SPED; CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
  • Purpose of the Session
  • Motivation for BearKat teachers to attend your session
  • Session Format

This is a great opportunity for you to share your expertise with our recent graduates. Opportunities for scholarship, networking, and learning are plentiful. The proposal review process is competitive and limited to 16 sessions, so submit as soon as you can. Looking forward to very worthwhile event.
