During the recent financial crisis many in politics, media, and general public have failed to realize that the banking industry is the driving force to support commerce, and without financial institutions there would be little, if any, interest in financing small and large businesses. The banking program at Sam Houston State University has established the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame in order to provide positive recognition to Texas Bankers. Through this medium, we will recognize bankers who have made valuable contributions to the banking profession and pioneered the Texas banking industry.
The Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking will host The Texas Bankers Hall of Fame Inaugural Gala on April 25, 2013 on the Sam Houston State University campus where several bankers will be inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame. There are several sponsorship levels available for this event. (See “Register”)
The following day, The Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking will hold the 17th Annual Bank Executives’ and Directors’ Seminar and Golf Tournament at Elkins Lake Recreational Facility. The seminar will offer you several presentations on hot topics, as well as, banking regulatory issues discussed with key regulators moderated by Sam Golden with Alvarez & Marsal.
