Welcome and Overview – Olsen Auditorium
9:00-9:15 a.m.
Travel to session locations (walking or own transportation)
9:15-10:30 a.m.
Session I (various locations) with TENTATIVE activities
  • Agribusiness – industry expects teamwork. Participate in team-building exercises, then work as a team to create a marketing flyer
  • Ag Communications – newscast with teleprompters, green screen, and live radio voice-overs
  • Ag Education – experience leadership and motivation that changes lives, and prepare to tell everyone that agriculture is the most important industry in the world!
  • Ag Engineering Technology – use Torchmate CAD software and CNC plasma table to design, draw, and cut take-home metal art; demonstrate and measure the performance of a diesel tractor using a state-of-the-art PTO dynometer; design and cut out a wooden SHSU sign using woodworking technology
  • Animal Science – dissection of the cardio-pulmonary system; meat sensory techniques; functions of ligaments and tendons of the equine leg
  • Plant & Soil Sciences – explore the emerging field of aquaponics, fertilizer technology and use, and plant propagation techniques
10:30-10:45 a.m.
Travel to Session II locations (walking or own transportation)
10:45-12:00 noon
Session II (repeat Session I activities; choose different discipline)
12:00 noon
Lunch (General’s Market dining hall; dismissal following lunch)
