Sam Houston State University: Be part of it.
Sam Houston State University is a vibrant, diverse university that welcomes students from all over the United States-and the world.
SHSU is located in historic Huntsville, Texas, one of the oldest cities in the state, with a population of just over 35,000. Situated in the eastern Piney Woods region of Texas, Huntsville was the final home of Sam Houston. The first and third president of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston served as governor of the state and is now considered Texas' greatest hero.
Through activities and events like orientation and the International Student Welcome Picnic, you'll immediately feel part of the SHSU community.
The Office of International Programs provides administration of all forms of international activities at SHSU.
To help you even more fully engage in life at SHSU, we offer a variety of clubs and organizations geared toward international students. SHSU organizations include the International Student Organization, the African Student Association and the League of United Latin American Citizens.
Throughout your time at SHSU, you'll benefit from our outstanding international student services, aimed at helping you succeed in the classroom and beyond.
