Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity...

Who We Are...

Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest Professional Business Fraternity, with more than 230 college and alumni chapters.  Membership comprises of more than 170,000 students and alumni.  AKPsi was founded at  New York University in 1904 and is among the twenty largest national college fraternities.  The organization is democratic in form and every member has an equal voice in the management of both the local chapter and the national organization.  The main focus of Alpha Kappa Psi is to provide leadership development, personal and professional training, and the fundamental ingredient higher education misses... experience.

The desire for a fraternal organization with a business focus led to the founding of Alpha Kappa Psi. That was back on October 5, 1904 at New York University. Today the need for this exciting and productive combination of values is just as great. A. K. Psi is among the twenty largest national college fraternities with over 170,000 members, including 4,500 faculty - most of whom are successful business executives. It is a complete, well integrated, capably administered national business fraternity standing for the highest ideals of conduct and achievement in university and professional life . Alpha Kappa Psi, the first professional fraternity in business, was founded at New York University in 1900, followed by the establishment of Delta Sigma Pi in 1907 at the same institution.

Over 140,000 members have been initiated into Alpha Kappa Psi. Of this number about 4,000 are faculty members, approximately 6,000 are college students working for degrees in business administration, and the remainder are engaged in business throughout the United States and Canada, and in other parts of the world. Of Alpha Kappa Psi's alumni membership, over 17,750 are life members. Members are viewed as being very loyal, friendly, sympathetic, honest, dependable, and trustworthy. Among the benefits of being a member, each member has the opportunity to participate in a number of chapter activities and to be a part of an organization with a strong sense of pride, honor, history and tradition. Each member is encouraged to take an active role in the fraternity. There are tremendous opportunities for growth and leadership on the executive board, committees, and throughout the organization as a whole.
