Carlo Vincetti Frizzo’s music has been played nationally as well as abroad, including performances at the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) National Conference, the Louisiana State University Festival of Contemporary Music, Society of Composers Inc. (SCI) 5th Student National Conference, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall, Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and the College Music Society (CMS) Southern Chapter 25th Annual Meeting where he won Outstanding Student Composition Award. He has attended the Interlochen Composers Institute where he studied under David Gillingham and Michael Daugherty as well as the Bowdoin International Music Festival where he studied with Samuel Adler, Robert Xavier Rodriguez, and Bright Sheng. This past summer he attended the European American Musical Alliance in Paris, France and studied under Narcis Bonet, Phillip Lasser, and Robert Beaser.
Many of his works have been recorded on Magni Publications and New Tertian Recordings. He was a regional winner of the 2006 and 2004 SCI/ASCAP Student Commission Competition. He has received several ASCAP Awards. He won second place in the MTNA National Student Composition Competition in 2003. The following year, he was named the winner of the MTNA National Student Composition Competition.
He holds a BA degree in Keyboard Studies and French from Murray State University. He studied piano and organ under Dr. Stephen Brown, and in 1998, he won first place in the Bluegrass Division at the Kentucky Music Teacher’s Association Piano Competition. He has completed his MM degree at Louisiana State University where he studied composition under Dr. Dinos Constantinides and electro-acoustic composition under Dr. Stephen David Beck. He also resided in Pittsburgh, PA and studied under David Stock at Duquesne University.
