Summer Camps Information

What to Bring

Dormitory Items:
Bed sheets (twin size), pillows, blankets, toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, etc.), towels, washcloths, hand soaps, hangers, alarm clock, telephone (optional).
Clothing:
Bring neat, casual hot-weather clothing. Tee-shirts must reflect good taste. Bring comfortable shoes (we will be doing lots of walking over hills!). There are no laundry facilities available during the camp. Campers should bring at least one change of clothing for each day of the camp.
Grand Concert: (Band & Orchestra Camps)
Bring nice dress clothes (no jeans, no tee-shirts, no sneakers).
Men:
Suit, or slacks, dress shirt, tie, and dress shoes
Women:
Suit, or dress, dress shoes - Dresses and skirts must be knee length or longer

Please remember this should be conservative performance attire.

NOTE: NO flip-flops, mini-skirts, tennis shoes, jeans, or low-cut blouses.
Rehearsals:
Campers must bring their own instrument. All campers will need to bring a folding music stand. Bring two copies of the audition music. Be sure to bring all necessary accessories (reeds, valve oil, etc.) Oboes and Bassoons should bring 2-3 extra reeds. Percussionists should bring their own sticks, mallets, brushes, and practice pad (and a snare drum, if possible); all other percussion instruments will be provided.
Other items:
Sunscreen is a good idea. Pack an umbrella (it tends to rain). Snacks (optional - Cooking in the dorms is not allowed). Long distance calling card (optional).
Spending Money:
Campers may want to bring extra cash for incidental expenses, to include vending machines and arcade games. For these items, bring change or one dollar bills. It is also common for campers to pool their resources and order pizza following evening activities. The parent or guardian should decide the appropriate amount to send with the camper. There are no change machines in the music building or the dorms (Counselors, Faculty, and Music Building personnel do not have change).
