Here is current information about
Epsilon Psi alumni.
- To the right is Darold Hubbard in a recent photo in a bodybuilding
contest in New England. Darold writes that his picture is likely to be found
in magazines in the near future.
There is a picture of Darold in the June,
1999, issue of Exercise for Men.
- Tres Hurst is in Korea.
- Joe Alford lives in Nashville and is active in the entertainment
industry
as a musician/writer. He is the bass guitarist with Collin Raye's band and
performed at the Astrodome this year for the Houston Rodeo. He appears in
several of Raye's videos and on his albums.
- Steve Parkhurst is back home in Orange and is an attorney with
Tommy Gunn & Associates. He received his J.D. from South Texas College of
Law recently. He says he is still keeps in touch with some of his pledge
brothers. "I'll be doing everything from personal injury to criminal law, so
tell the brothers if they need anything to call." Hopefully his services will
not be needed, but we'll keep the phone number handy! Our congratulations to
Steve for his completion of law school.
- Kevin Currie is teaching English in Korea. Keeping track of Kevin
is nearly a full-time job! But he is in Korea for a year. After that he plans
to go to woodworking (furniture) school in the East. He had been making
furniture in Austin when he learned, almost accidently, about this unusual
job. For any of you who would like to contact Kevin, his address is as follows:

- Jerry Brown and family have moved to Gause, Texas: "we decided to
move to the country." They plan to be in their new house in July. Jerry says
he is not retiring: "this just means I'll be on the road more, if that's
possible. My travels take me throughout Texas, Louisiana, Colorade, Washington,
California, and Oregon." His daughter Kerry (13) is excited about moving to the
country because she has her own horse. The Borwns' other daughter Jennifer and
her husband will be at Baylor after graduating from the University of Texas.
Ben has been accepted to Baylor Law School and Jennifer will be in graduate
school there. "We are proud of them both. I hope to see more of the brothers
since I just received my Sam Houston Alumni Directory. Maybe during my travels
we'll get together."
- Jaime Mata recently graduated from Baylor Law School and completed
the Texas Bar Exam. He will be working with Worsham, Forsythe & Wooldridge,
LLP, in Dallas.
- Eddie Krause has been travelling in his job during the past two
years. As a regional sales manager for Waltco Truck Equipment, Eddie goes to
Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and all over Texas. He says he has
visited his Big Brother Bob Foster in San Antonio, old roommate Lynn
"Too Tall" Sanders, and Mike Bacon in Austin. "I have been married
19 years to Barbara and we have two great kids, Kristin (15) and Trey (10).
Trey was not named after Trey Howse (trust me!)." Eddie went to Superbowl XXVII
in Pasadena and sat in the 7th row on the 46 yard line behind the Cowboys
bench, courtesy of retired Cowboy D. D. Lewis (#56).
- Carlo Minotti is appearing in commercials in Dallas and Houston.
The Taco-Bueno commercial is shown in the Dallas area and the NationsBank and
Alpha Payer's commercials are on Houston stations. Carlo says he has run into
Big Brother Danny Schmiech and Mark Knodel in shopping centers.
Besides commercials Carlo is working in sales for The Powell Group.
- Jim Rector is principal in the Baird ISD for grades 7-12. He says
he would like to make the reunion but the family had planned a trip to Florida
on the reunion dates. "It would be great to see some of the old bunch. I am
enjoying my job as a high school principal. I am in my third year in
administration after a 15-year coaching career." Jim spends his spare time on
the golf course and in family-oriented activities. "I hope and pray that
everyone has a good time at the reunion."
- Keith Lyons is working for Terry McDaniel and Co. Investment Counsel
in Austin. Previously in Houston for six months, Keith returned home to Austin.
Keith recently became engaged to Lisa Bobo and they plan to marry in January.
- Larry Jones has been in the real estate appraisal business in
Houston for the past 24 years, and has had his own firm for over 20 years; his
offices are located on the Northwest Freeway. He looks forward to the reunion
in June.
- Darrell Myers, who works in sales for Duo-Fast Houston, Inc., has
taken several trips to England with his family to visit his mother, who lives
in the Cornwall area. Darrell is proud of his children: "Josh, my middle son,
is into soccer. He has been playing for five years and is only nine years old.
Jason, my oldest (14) plays competitive ice hockey. Jessica, my youngest (7)
is also into soccer, swim team, and Brownies."
- Eric Justice has been concept chef for Pappadeaux for two years.
He travels quite a bit due to the various locations of the restaurants. Eric
has moved back to Houston "which I enjoy because a lot of brothers" are there.
"I enjoy very much getting together and spending time with Brothers."
- Larry Schramme is President of Schramme Investments, Inc., dealing
in municipal bonds, stocks, etc. The Schramme family lives in Dallas. Larry
and Winnie have been married for 29 years and have three children. Larry, Jr.
who graduated from Texas Tech in 1992, is a camp director for Camp Grady
Spruce, an outdoor educational facility; his wife Tina graduated from San
Angelo State in 1990 and also works at the camp. Sloane graduated from the
University of Alabama in 1995 and is in the training program for Neiman-
Marcus. Will is currently in the sophomore honors college at Clemson
University. Larry also states: "For those of you interested, Mary Helen and I
had one daughter Misty, who graduated from Texas A&M, is married, lives in
Houston, and has two children." Larry formed Schramme Investments in 1991.
"I had the good fortune to spend some time with Danny Robinson,
unfortunately because he had a heart attack in Dallas. it was fun to be with
him; he still has his humor."
- Tom Raguse writes: "Some of my fondest memories of Sam are of the
days in Sigma Chi. It was my privilege to have been chosen to be a Brother.
I hope Sigma Chi will continue to develop the strong friendships that helps
us as individuals to get along with each other, in and out of school."
- Ted Schwank is minister for the Adult Ministry at Second Baptist
Church, located at 6400 Woodway in Houston.
- Steve Montgomery sold his company (Montgomery, Conine & Robinson
Advisors, Ltd.) and joined one of the three largest commercial companies in
the world (Cushman & Wakefield of Texas, Inc). He changed because he wants
to be involved in international ral estate deals. Steve has also been very
active in raising and competing Arabian cutting horses, "having owned four
national champions and one reserve champion." He is also involved with the
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo--"having `invented' and now being in charge
of the international cutting horse championships held in Houston with ten
countries and forth team members competing from around the world. Steve was
recently appointed to the Business Advisory Council at Sam Houston. He is
also on the board of the Texas Business Hall of Fame.
- David McCarble has returned to Houston and is marketing manager
for Southwest Reporting and Video Service, Inc., a company which videotapes
depositionis for law suits. David was in Florida, where he was a licensed
real estate broker and owned and operated Prestige Real Estate for five
years. In 1991 he changed jobs and worked for Loeb Partner Realty and
Development Corp, a firm based in New York City, until 1994.
- Lance Moreland works for Apache Corporation in Houston, one of the
largest independent exploration and production companies in North America with
several core business areas in foreign countries. "Technically my title is
Supervisor - International Services. Nobody really knows what that means. Most
of my time is spent abroad performing special projects for out international
departments." In his job, Lance has spent three months in Beijing, China,
building an office, relocating a business from Tianjin, china, and working
in Cairo, Egypt, helping to acquire a company and merge their operations into
ours. "In the meantime I've stopped over in other interesting parts of the
world. The good part is I get to see the most interesting parts of the world
for free!" Lance has seen Dale Dentler often and Kregg Lunsford
works in the same building.
- Lacy Spears just completed a five-month consulting assignment in
Sydney, Australia. Lacy started his consulting firm--Capstone Consulting
Group--in July, 1995. Prior to that time he worked for Texas Instruments for
twenty years and then was Vice President of Human Resources for Halliburton
Energy Services; he retired in October, 1994. Lacy's son Lane (29) has a
degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M and is currently working on his
MBA at SMU; daughter Jennifer (26) graduated from A&M in 1991 and is married,
living in Alaska; daughter Stephanie (21) will be a senior this year.
- Gary Cerny, wife Robin, and son Colton have moved to New Iberia,
Louisiana, where Gary is Vice President/Louisiana Division Manager for Entex.
"We were fortunate enough to be able to locate in the part of the state they
call `Acadiana,' where the first French settlers from Nova Scotia landed.
Needless to say, the French heritage is quite predominant and very
interesting. We are learning some of the French sayings as well as teaching
them a little Spanish. The seafood it great and I have even learned to suck
crawfish heads. If anyone comes through New Iberia, please give us a call. I
promise we will show you a good time or as the French would say: `Laissez
le bon ton rouller.'
- Scott Getz and Mona are expecting their first son (already named
Tyler Austin) at the end of July. Scott is working in outside sales for
Forgings Flanges and Fittings. Scott lives in a "small world"! "I live on
the same street as Ronnie Morrison, two streets away from Steve
Bub, 1.5 miles from Ashley Van Meter, and 3 miles from Clint
Palermo."
- Jack Follis completed 30 years as an ordained minister in the
Baptist Church in November, 1995. In June, 1994, he retired from East
Mississippi State Hospital (psychiatric), serving 25 years as their chaplain.
In the 1996 fall semester, he will study at Harvard Divinity School as a
post-graduate fellow in the Merrill Fellowship Program.
- Eric Grimes and Becca are expecting their first child in October.
The Grimes are interested in the musical arts in Houston and would like to
live in town, but the expense is high! Both Eric and Becca sing in their
church choir, as they did went they were students at Sam.
- John McManners is currently working with Mike Blackford Law Firm
in San Antonio as a disability represetntative specialized in presenting cases
to Federal Judges for decision. John served 30 years in the U. S. Army and
retired in 1992.
- Trent Hair is Vice President for the Llama Company, located in
Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he has lived since the beginning of the year.
Trent has met a few of the Sigs at the chapter in Fayetteville, and "seeing
these guys in action around here brings back memories of my undergraduate
years at Sam. Don't worry, I'm not missing one beat in keeping up with all the
young flat bellies!"
- Clyde Jacks and Nancy will be celebrating their 29th anniversary
on August 19th. Both sons Trey and James are married "so we are enjoying an
`Empty Nest.'" This year also marks the 15th anniversary of Clyde's business--
Trace Consultants. On May 4, 1996, Clyde was reelected to his third term on
the City Council of Sugar Land and served as Mayor Pro Tem this past year.
"In fact, I'm still Mayor Pro Tem. I won my race with 56% of the vote. 18
Brothers helped in my reelection effort." The Jacks spend as much time as
possible at their weekend home in Sargent (Matagorda County) on Caney Creek.
Clyde notes that last year Sugar Land was picked as the second most desirable
city in Texas to live or locate a business. it was piced as the 4th best
managed city in Texas of cities under 50,000 population and has one of the
fastest growing cities in the U. S.
- Steve Harris and family moved to rural Mississippi in 1990 after
15 years as finance Manager in auto dealerships in Houston. The Harrises
live in a 100-year-old home on 90 acres plus 65 acre beaver pond/swamp.
Hunting and fishing are common recreation activities; they ride a dune buggy
in the swamp. They are 70 miles from the nearest large city. Steve is
Executive Director for East Central Mississippi Health Care, Inc., in
Sebastopol, Mississippi. He has three children: two daughters Mellissa and
Krystine, and one son, Todd, who is a Sig at Stephen F. Austin.
- Spencer Forsyth is a marketing represetative for Oxford
International, which specializes in technical contract personnel. He and
Brandi (twice Chapter Sweetheart), lived in Bedford. Brandi is working for
Trammell Crow as a leasing agent; she was must named "Rookie of the Year" for
all of Dallas/Ft. Worth.
- Ty Gipson is currently working in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He
was married in May, 1996, and he and Lisa live in Arlington. "Life is going
well. Sigma Chi has always beenvery special to me, although since graduating
and facing the `real world,' Sigma Chi has even touched me more. Leaving
Huntsville and all the brothers has been difficult, but Sigma Chi, I feel,
has made me more prepared for daily occurrences I face. I'm very proud to
be a Sigma Chi; in fact, my new office has one hanging frame--my certificate
of membership in Sigma Chi."
- Ken Jordan is Vice President (Operations Manager) for Bank of
American in Pleasant Hill, California. He is presently Chairman of the Board
of Directory, Marine Memorial Club, in San Francisco. Also recently appointed
to this board was Mike Myatt, Epsilon Psi's first Significant Sig.
