Another Familiar Sigma Chi

Another Sig with a familiar face. I'll bet you didn't know that Clarence A. Gilyard, Jr. is a Sigma Chi. Who's he? If you have ever watched "Walker, Texas Ranger" he is Chuck Norris' sidekick, Jimmy Trivette. Before this TV series, Clarence was a regular on "Matlock," playing Conrad McMasters, Andy Griffith's detective. He has also appeared in three films: "Off the Mark," "Top Gun," and "Die Hard." Clarence is a Sig from California State/Long Beach and was graduated in 1981; he began his acting career in college and began taking acting classes and working at the Century City Playhouse performing children's theatre by day and adult theatre by night. Gilyard's first television series was the last season of "CHiPS" and later on "The Duck Factory" with classmate Jim Carrey. Clarence was a member of the Distinguished Faculty at Workshop and he is the most cordial and down-to-earth man you'd ever want to meet. He also has a deep sense of Sigma Chi which he carries with him. When I met him I told him I enjoyed his work. He answered "Thank you. I am so proud to be a Sigma Chi." (8/16/95)

Clarence will be the Master of Ceremonies at this June's Grand Council meeting in Evanston. He will also be on this summer's Leadership Training Faculty in the Quaestor's division.
