Floristics and Systematics of Mexican tTopical Plant Families
Justin Williams, Assistant Professor, Director of the Warner Herbarium

My research focuses on the systematics and floristics of the tropical plant families of Mexico. In particular, I have been studying the evolution and endemism of the plant family Apocynaceae as well as a floristic account of the ruins at Palenque, Chiapas. In addition to plant systematics, my research interest includes the utilization of GPS/GIS in vegetation mapping. The creation of vegetation maps allow ecologist to predict bird/animal habitat that allow them to accurately refine their studies for conservation or collections.
