President's  Dinner & Concert

The President will host an invitation only dinner and concert at 7 p.m. in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom.  Dan Rather will be the keynote speaker for the evening. Music for the evening will feature the String Quartet, Jazz Combo, Jazz Ensemble, and the Symphony Orchestra & Chorus: selections from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.  The event is $125 per couple, $75 per person, $500 per table of eight.  Seating is limited for this event.  Dress is evening business.  Parking will be provided in the University Parking Garage.

Presidents Golf Tournament

The 2004 President' Golf Tournament registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start at Raven Nest Golf Course.  The four-player scramble is $125 per player.  Tournament limited to 144 players

President's Speaker Series

Lecture & Book signing-

James  Haley

James Haley, author of the critically acclaimed biography, "Sam Houston," will be a guest lecturer in the President's Speaker Series.  Haley will speak at 11:00 a.m. in the Beto Criminal Justice Center Killinger Auditorium.  His topic will be "Educating Sam: Book Larnin' and Real Life." And he has agreed to autograph copies of his book after his speech.

Commemorative Signing Ceremony: Governor Rick Perry will join us for a commemorative signing ceremony on the steps of Austin Hall.  This public event marks the date Governor Oran M. Roberts signed the legislation to establish Sam Houston Normal Institute April 21, 1879.  A reception will follow the event.
