Prison City

In 1986, 18 men came together and established SIGMA LAMBDA BETA INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY INC. It all began in Iowa State, Iowa, where a student wanted to create something more suited for Latinos. He talked to others at Iowa State and met with those who were interested. These men came together and brought forth SIGMA LAMBDA BETA.

6 men established the Lambda Beta chapter here at Sam Houston State University. We then became a chapter on Feburary 23, 2002. Since SHSU is in Huntsville, TX, we got the nickname of PRISON CITY BETAS.
