Ekene Onochie

Spirit and Traditions Chair

Ekene Onochie is a senior at Sam Houston State University. She is an active member of Program Council, Black Student Alliance, Sam Mentors, and played on the Sam Houston State University’s women’s club soccer team for three years. After graduation, Ekene plans to work within in the juvenile psychiatric field and/or adult marital counseling. Ekene represents League City, Texas and is the oldest of five children. Her life is centered around the words of Booker T. Washington’s quote:

        Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life, but as by   the obstacles which he has overcome.
