Audition Advantage! Workshop
Sam Houston State University is proud to present its seventh annual Audition Advantage! workshop, helping students who are auditioning for region (and area and all-state) bands. We had a successful addition last year of our program for TMEA schools (after serving exclusively ATSSB for five years), and we are once again holding two tracks, one for TMEA music (4A and 5A schools), and one for ATSSB music (1A, 2A, and 3A schools).
General Info
On Saturday, September 6, 2008, starting at 8:00 AM for TMEA and 11:00 AM for ATSSB (full schedule), the winds, brass, percussion faculty of the School of Music will present workshop sessions on the region band audition music. These sessions will allow your students to receive individual attention from our accomplished teachers, and will cover everything from beginning practice to final, well-rehearsed performance.
There will be a concert by our faculty to inspire your students and some musical warm-up activities to get everyone involved.
We will also provide free lunch in the Music Building for each student.
What to Bring and Cost
Students need to bring music stands to be used throughout the day. The cost is $25 per student (fee waived for previous All-State students). Registration begins now, and there is a $5 early registration discount through Thursday, August 28, 2008. So register before this date to pay only $20 per student.
