Summary

The All-State Choir Camp is intended to prepare and to inspire the growing high school choral musician. Intensive sectional and full rehearsals will prepare the student for the series of advancing auditions which leads toward membership in the Texas All-State Choir.

The camp is designed with the student's over-all musicianship in mind. Section rehearsals will be led by outstanding high school choral directors. Full rehearsals will be led by Sam Houston State's Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Allen Hightower. Rehearsals will be complimented by sessions focused on sight-reading and on vocal technique.

Campers will have access to a wide variety of fun and entertaining activities. Evening events include Movie Night, Dance Night, and Skit/Talent Show Night. This summer promises to be the most fun SHSU Choir Camp yet.

Join us for an exciting and productive musical experience. Solidly prepare your All-State Choir music, improve your sight-reading skills, and learn more about proper vocal technique while having fun in the sun at Sam Houston State University.

All-State Music Packets will be available at Registration for $17.00. This packet will include all of the pieces required to audition in a men's packet and a women's packet. There will also be a sightreading book (90 Days to Sightreading Success) available for $15.00. The sightreading book is not required for the camp, but is very beneficial to improve sightreading skills for the All-State Audition process.

The All-State Music Packets and Sightreading books have been made available through Penders Music Company.

Faculty

The campers are taught by outstanding high school choral directors and musicians from across the state.

Auditions

There is no audition required for this camp.

Performance

The last day of the camp will feature a performance at 11:00 a.m. The camp will be officially concluded at the end of the concert.
