SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION AND FINANCIAL BENEFITS
High school students may compete for four-year awards which
can total up to $100,000. See Army
ROTC homepage for information and to request an application.
Once on campus, you may compete for two or three-year awards of
$50,000 or $75,000, which included is a monthly stipend ranging
from $250 to $400 per month and $600 per year for books.
All cadets in the Advanced Course receive the monthly tax-free
stipend during their last two years regardless of their scholarship
status. These cadets also receive pay, room and board, and travel
expenses for the summer leadership camp. Students without scholarships
may also participate in Army Reserve or National Guard training
while in Army ROTC. These cadets will receive monthly drill pay
and may qualify for GI Bill benefits of up to $250 a month.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for a four-year Army ROTC scholarship, you must:
1) Be a citizen of the United States.
2) Be at least 17 years old before the scholarship becomes effective.
3) Take either the SAT or ACT no later than November of the year
you apply.
4) Meet required physical standards.
5) Be under 27 years old on June 30 of the year you expect to
graduate and receive your officer's commission (An age extension
of up to three years may be possible for veterans who qualify).
6) Be a high school graduate or have equivalent credit.
7) Be accepted by Sam Houston State University.
8) Agree to accept a commission as either a Regular Army, Army
National Guard, or U.S. Army Reserve officer.
