This course may also be taken as a traditional classroom course. The classroom version of the course is MGT 481.01 and is usually offered during the Spring semester. Students taking the web-based course during the Spring semester may find it beneficial to attend the classroom based course occasionally or use the technology laboratory on campus to complete selected experiential exercises. The on-line course allows students more flexibility, however lessons and assignments must be completed according to a prescribed schedule. The total time requirement for the web-based course is comparable to that of the classroom course. Students should allow about 3 hours per week for doing the lessons plus additional time for reading the text, doing the homework, and completing the experiential exercises. The student must make arrangements to take the three examinations either on the SHSU campus or at an approved testing location.

The program POM for Windows, v. 3, by H. Weiss (Prentice Hall, 2006) might be useful for constructing control charts. It is available stand-alone as ISBN 0-13-173545-4 and with a manual as ISBN 0-13-221772-4.
The program NWA Quality Analyst is available on the SHSU computer network. It is a full-service statistical quality control software package and is available for your use through any of the SHSU computer laboratories. A 30 day trial copy of this program may be downloaded at http://www.nwasoft.com/.
Assignments: Written and experiential assignments will be made in each lesson. Written assignments and experiential exercise reports are to be prepared using 10 or 12 point type, double spaced. Students taking the course on-line should submit assignments electronically as Word Documents--start each subject line with MGT 481-Web. Please be sure that your files are virus-free.
Grading for On-Line Course: There will
be three examinations including the final examination worth 100 points
each. In addition there will be written and experiential assignments
that will be graded. They will total approximately 200 points.
