RESPONSES TO OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS
Six open-ended questions were posed in order to gather information from respondents in their own words about aspects of board use.  Two questions were about strong points of the boards and elicited numerous positive responses.  Quotes provided are representative answers.

QUESTION:  What are some ways of using the board that you find particularly successful?

RESPONSES:  Overall favorable responses were offered, with most respondents offering opinions. Representative quotations include:

    "As a computer teacher using the board is a life-saver. The board makes student understand much easier."

    'The board was especially useful in situations where the instructor is pointing out features of software applications.  "

    "I use it to develop presentations before class. Using the document camera and interactive applications makes bringing a presentation together very simple."

   " Demonstrations of software techniques in training situations.  The board helps me "focus" my participants on important points."

    "The ability with the SMART Board to paste in text from a word processing program and annotate it is the primary feature we love."

    "When using the board as a peripheral input device, where the computer is being projected on a screen, students do not have to wait until the instructor moves out of the way to see what has been written on the board.  "


QUESTION:  Describe the things you like best about using the electronic interactive whiteboard.

RESPONSES:  As with the previous question, this item brought forth positive responses, including:

    "The board has been an excellent teaching tool.  It reinforces the students level of learning by being able to actually see what you are discussing."

    "These devices (Tegrity) are super!"

    "We have a SMART Board.  This allows us to not only print but interactively control the computer from the board.  It is the best method to use to teach new computer skills."

    "We just need more in our district."
