The mission of the Health Program at Sam Houston State University is to enhance the health and improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities through the provision of teaching, service, and research in the areas of health education and health promotion. Students are prepared to function as certified teachers and health program specialists in school, community, corporate, and clinical settings.

The Health and Kinesiology Departments are located in the Health and Kinesiology Center near the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
